Ai-Ren Is a manga that went from 1999 - 2002 that you probably haven't heard of. With 43 chapters it's not too long, but it still manages to completely tell it's story. It is mostly pretty sweet/wholesome slice of life stuff, but often dips into some heavy themes concerning mortality. It left me pretty blown away when I finished it, so I can definitely recommend it as a hidden gem.

"[Kaguya-sama: Love Is War](https://myanimelist.net/manga/90125/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Tensai-tachi_no_Renai_Zunousen)" is the go-to, although the MC spot is sort of shared between the male and the female lead. "[Ai-Ren](https://myanimelist.net/manga/1194/Ai-Ren)" is the sweetest thing I have ever read, but the ending is rather bitter. It is still one of my favorites of all time. I rated it 9/10 on mal along side Kaguya-sama. The ending is still better than Kaguya-Sama's tho. "[That's My Atypical Girl](https://myanimelist.net/manga/118873/Asper_Kanojo)" Is rather niche.
