Angel Sanctuary (1994-2000)

r/mangarecommendations · the most disturbing manga possible without overarching sexual theme

Looking at other things you've watched/read, Angel Sanctuary might interest you (or other Kaori Yuki works). Not that I'd say it's the "most disturbing possible" (you've already read Mai-Chan's Daily Life lol), but she writes about dark subject matter and Angel Sanctuary has body horror.

Hiraeth wa Tabiji no Hate (Hiraeth The End of the Journey) - A grieving teenage girl, an immortal man and an ancient god are all traveling to the gates of the underworld, where they plan to die and cross over. Angel Sanctuary - You should read a full synopsis because I am not sure if this is what you are looking for (it is very dark), but it deals with reincarnation and angels.
