Personally a huge fan of Battle Angel Alita

r/manga · Recommendations for hard, desolate, mysterious "ultra-scifi"

Better known as **Gunnm** for the manga

r/mangarecommendations · Recommendations of more mature manga

Start with the mature classics: - 20th Century Boys - Akira - Battle Angel Alita - Bastard!! - Blade of the Immortal - Crying Freeman - Lone Wolf and Cub - Monster - Nausicaa - Phoenix - Ping Pong - Sanctuary - Summit of the Gods - Uzumaki Limited to manga that started pre-2000, cuz otherwise we'd be here forever.

Aposimz, by Tsutomu Nihei (same author as Abara). Claymore and Colorless, kind of? Moreso for the villains though. Also maybe Dai Dark. And maybe Battle Angel Alita would work; there's a lot of body modification there. More niche, The Tree of Death: Yomotsuhegui has some of this vibe. So does Wild Strawberry, though it has no physical English release.

r/mangarecommendations · Looking for recommendations and kinda berserk rant

Battle Angel Alita Nausicaa Phoenix Comparable quality to Berserk (I'd say the latter two are way superior), but zero rape.
