Saiyuki

r/shoujo · Here me out!

Doesn’t matter how you feel. It all depends on what magazine the manga is/was published in. Saiyuki, a gritty and violent series about young men fighting demons with guns and shit is a josei while Komi-San, a wholesome cute series about a boy befriending a girl with severe social anxiety and helping her make friends is a shounen. They’re from josei/shounen manga magazines

r/josei · Recommendation for action type Josei?

Plenty, yeah. You should look up Yumi Tamura, *BASARA* is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking epic, action-packed josei. If you can pull up Tomoe ga yuku that's also a good pick. Reiko Shimizu is also someone to look into. I'm a huge fan of *Himitsu/Top Secret*, but *Kaguya-hime* might be closer to what you're looking for. Kazuya Minekura's *Saiyuuki* is also a really good read. You could try Keiko Takemiya's *Toward Terra too,* if you're into SF.
