The Heroic Legend of Arslan

r/shoujo · Are there any indian or middle Eastern inspired mangas?

Magi: Labyrinth of Magic is loosely based off of 1001 Nights The Heroic Legend of Arslan  RG Veda is based off Hindu folklore, though uses the Japanese names for the gods.

r/shoujo · Shoujo fans seem to like Fire Emblem. Why? What manga can you recommend for someone that likes it?

Arslan Senki feels so much like classic Fire Emblem, and the OVA from the 90s is absolutely beautiful!

Fire Emblem Fates my beloved, pleasant surprise seeing it show up here. Its not exactly shoujo but my go to recommendation would be \*\*The Heroic Legend of Arslan/Arslan Senki\*\*. It's done by the same Mangaka as Full Metal Alchemist and you can see her stylings in it but it still feels like it has its own identity. A wide eyed princeling goes on an epic journey to save his kingdom and finds new allies in his travels. There is also \*\*Yona of the Dawn\*\* which is definitely more of a shoujo but personally I prefer Arslan for its story telling and strong emotional beats.

r/mangarecommendations · Suggest me period manga like Kingdom, vagabond and berserk.
