r/shoujo · What is your favorite Akiko Higashimura manga?I really enjoyed Tokyo Tarareba Girls, it's such a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish. Now I need to check out the sequels (and seeing all the praise Blank Canvas is getting, I also need to read this one!)
r/josei · Recommendations for a gritty/realistic josei manga about dating? You Can't Live All on Your Own is not on the same level as gritty but it's similar to Tokyo Tarareba Girls in that it's a female friend group who are roommates, and focuses on a few of the friends' relationships and their tribulations and failures in dating. Piece of Cake by George Asakura definitely fits gritty, realism that you're looking for IMO. I'm a big fan of George Asakura's works because I feel like she really captures that realism and relatable aspect. It's been a while but IIRC this one had a ||happy|| ending but I do think it still captures the disappointment of dating and harsh
